Whenever I watch boxing/MMA/combat sports, there's always a trainer or referee who rubs this white, powdery substance on a boxer's face right before the fight starts.
I'd be grateful if you could tell me what it is, and, if possible, why it is used.What's that powder they put on a fighter's face before a match?

I know it is used to help keep sweat out of their eyes, but I'm not sure if it is talc or something else.
