face powder is mostly a mineral called talc. It is insoluable in water and non-polar. However, there are also cosmetic dyes and perfumes. These are minor ingredients, but can be water soluable and polar. Geranol is ';oil of rose'; and is slightly polar. Any red or pink colors are most likley a dye called red #40. It is a water soluable, polar chemical used in foods and cosmetics which need a red color.Is face powder a polar or non polar?
