Foundation. Then setting face with a powder?

I know you're supposed to set your face with a powder. So, in your opinion which should i get thats great?

1- regular pressed powder (my skin tone)

2- Bare Escentuals Mineral VeilFoundation. Then setting face with a powder?
I've never liked using BE before but the mineral veil is worth using. It absorbs the oil on you're skin and helps hydrate it for the day. You can use regular pressed powder if you wanted but any pressed powder works the same so prices vary compared tto the mineral veil.Foundation. Then setting face with a powder?
I love Bare Escentuals -- the mineral veil is great, but they also have regular powder that you can get in your skin tone. Both work great, if your skin is very clear and you don't have many imperfections you need to hide, the mineral veil would be great over foundation. The regular powder in skin tone is better for hiding things, but it might be a little much over foundation.

Good luck,

Jackie
i started using Dinair Airbrush Makeup 2 years ago and something thats wonderful about it is there is no concealer, foundation, setting powder and all of that extra stuff...it is just airbrush foundation that stays on all day, takes 2 mins to put on, looks flawless, covers everything, and is all waterproof so its not bad for ur skin. anywho, if u google Dinair you'll find their site and u can look through it...hope i made a helpful suggestion.
Depends on how much money you want to spend. If you don't need anymore coverage after applying your liquid foundation, any cheap translucent powder will do the trick. You don't need to spend the extra money on the Bare Escentuals one. :)
i use a pressed powder and i like it(:

What are the attributes of powdered Dried Rose Petals as a face pack??

ok..i have an idea to use dried the rose petals powdered(coursely) as a face pack..

My question is what is the use of using it as a face pack? does it whitens the skin???What are the attributes of powdered Dried Rose Petals as a face pack??
it willbe like applying rose water

with rose powder add sandal wood powder add honey

rose powder makes your skin glowWhat are the attributes of powdered Dried Rose Petals as a face pack??
it nourishes the skin giving it a youthful glow and sheen... it doesnt necessarily whiten the skin but it makes you bloom... and it also makes the skin soft and supple
Uhm these will cause the skin to tint whatever colour the rose is. They say that if you put red rose petals on a bed before lovemaking, after lovemaking you can see where your skin touched them because the colour leeches out of the petals.
will not whiten it will actually leave a red stain for example, if you are using red roses.

the application esp crushed up will work as a mild, scented exfoliant however and help remove dry skin.

Skin whiteners usually come in a cream or pill form and you should talk to a dermatologist about this.

Messing with your skin without sound knowledge is never advised.

Talk to a professional first before you end up doing something you might regret.
use milk and saffron as a face pack...

it will whiten skin.....

or use rose water and multani mitti ,honey

(honey acts as bleaching agent.)

i dont know abt dried rose petals.......

sorry :-(

All about face products - foundations, powder etc?

Okay i know this is going to be a stupid question but i really need to know. So for a long time, i've only been putting on eye makeup, blush sometimes concealer etc but now i want to look into the whole foundation and powder products. so here's my question

What is REALLY the point for FOUNDATION and POWDER?

besides hiding the blemishes also what is skinfinish for MAC?

thank you!

hope i get answers what i'm looking for!All about face products - foundations, powder etc?
The point of foundation and powder is to even out your skin tone, so your complexion is smooth and even. As close to flawless as you can get it.

Foundation comes in several forms- There are liquid foundations, powder foundations, cream/mousse foundations, and foundations that come in stick form. The most common ones are liquids and powders though, so we'll stick to those. Liquid foundations are usually more suited for dry skin, as they usually contain more moisturizing ingredients to keep skin from drying out as the day goes on. You should always moisturize (ideally with a moisturizer with SPF) before you put on any sort of make up, but for some dry/combination skinned ladies, moisturizer just isn't always enough. Liquid foundations are usually set with powder, but NOT powder foundation. Most companies make an invisible (or ';translucent';) setting powder, that will keep your liquid foundation from coming off all over your clothes/hands/whatever you come into contact with during the course of your day. Common problems with liquid foundation include the ';mask look'; which occurs when a slightly lighter/darker foundation is not blended correctly around the edges of the face/neck, and looking ';cakey'; which means that the foundation isn't even, or is applied too thick in certain areas.

Powder foundations are usually geared towards ladies with combination/oily skin, as most powders contain silica, an ingredient known for its ability to absorb excess oil from the face. Like I said earlier, it's a good idea to moisturize before applying any sort of foundation, but it is especially important to moisturize or apply a good primer to your face before using powder foundation, as it will give your powder something to ';stick'; to. Powder foundations come in all sorts of different coverage levels, but don't expect to get full coverage from a powder. Most powder foundations are best when applied with a powder brush (for example, a MAC 150 or 134), but for more coverage, a kabuki style brush may be used. Common problems with powder foundations include looking ';chalky'; which basically means that the powder isn't milled very fine, and it isn't blended in all the way. This can be alleviated by using a spray like MAC fix+ over powder foundation.

So here are some things to consider before you invest in your first foundation:

-What type of skin do you have? Oily? Combination? Sensitive? Acne Prone? If you have sensitive or acne prone skin, you'll most likely want to try a foundation that is formulated especially for sensitive/acne prone skin. Bare Minerals, or any other kind of mineral foundation get rave reviews around here. Almay makes several different kinds of foundation that are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (non pore-clogging)

- What kind of coverage are you looking for? Hot tip: You probably don't need as much as you think you do. The idea of foundation is for it to look natural. Liquid foundations tend to have better coverage selections, from very light (ie tinted moisturizer) to full (something like MAC Studio Sculpt foundation)

- What shade are you? This is usually the trickiest. If you're looking to find a higher end foundation, I completely and totally recommend going to a counter/store and getting your foundation matched by an associate/artist. If you're going for a drugstore foundation, grab a friend for a second opinion. If you're swatching, don't swatch on your hand-- it's a different color than your face. Swatch on your cheek, and go for the foundation that is the most subtle.

To answer your other question, MAC mineralize skinfinishes are mineral powder compacts from MAC. People use them for all sorts of things: Blushes, highlighters, contouring... I even use some of the Mineralize Skinfinish Degrad茅s from the Brunette Blonde Redhead collection as eyeshadows. MAC also makes the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural collection, which are essentially mineralized powders that can either be used lightly to set liquid foundation or by themselves as a light coverage foundation.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me a line. :)All about face products - foundations, powder etc?
Foundation and powder is usually to make the skin look clearer. It'll obviously cover up blemishes and uneven skin tone. If you DON'T need to necessarily wear them, then don't because they make your pores larger..and in the near future you'll soon be depending on them before you leave the house. I'm not sure what skinfinish is from Mac but I AVOID MAC FOUNDATIONS, they're good at covering up but they're actually DESTRUCTIVE to the skin. I'd stick with something like Bare Escentuals where they actually don't harm the skin yet do the job. Just my personal opinion...
Foundation is used as a solid base to start with. Think of it as a clean canvass to start painting with. The powder foundations are really good because they are so light you don't even feel like you are wearing it. Skinfinish is a cream powder used to set foundation or fix it during the day.
Mary Kay has the best makeup and skincare products

Powder is used in combination with foundation to make it look more natural and last longer

Contact me if you will like to try Mary Kay you will love it

clinique all the way, i always used mac or chanel or lancome and clinique the cheapest one of all 3 has make up that is actually good for your skin and helps clear it. also it has great coverage.
I use foundation that as a flawless finish - when i go out pub/clubbing.

Through the day i use a light reflection foundation - its not as heavy as and makes the skin look dewy and bright.
There is no point besides hiding blemishes

If Sarah Palin cannot handle a powder puff interview with Sean Hannity, how is she going to face down Putin?

She is a light weight yet to be exposed. I am disappointed in McCain for picking her.If Sarah Palin cannot handle a powder puff interview with Sean Hannity, how is she going to face down Putin?
I am sorry, but a women who was governor of a state with half the population of the CITY I live in is not in the same league as Mr. Putin.

I mean she doesn't even know what the 'Bush Doctrine' is. Although, in reality, it is probably the 'Cheney Doctrine'. Whatever it is, she doesn't have a clue. All she can do is read speeches written by someone else.

She is currently boning up on her 'foreign policy' skills by meeting with international government leaders such as Bono, of U2, for crying out loud.

Heaven forbid that John McCain get elected, but the thought of Sarah Palin as being one heart beat away from the presidency quite frankly is too ominous to bear.

If Sarah Palin cannot handle a powder puff interview with Sean Hannity, how is she going to face down Putin?
Oh they all must handle her with ';the gloves on'; or the republipukes start crying sexist, and unfair

There is a web site....and i'll try to post it if i can find it again.....ALREADY SELLING SIGNS accusing biden of sexism...and the debate hasn't even happened yet.

And what makes you think Obama can. All he is, is talk. He would never be able to stand up to some who had clsoe to the same power has he has. Someone who has been pampered my the media, has no exsperience in what the real world will deal to him.
She is sooooooooo passe. 15 minutes of fame undeserved..gone, gone

Tina Fey did her better than Sarah Palin so whatever her handlers are shaping is just as gone as TinaFey/Sarah Palin...

She won't be able to. The Hannity interview wasn't an interview, it was a joke. He only asked about three questions and they were questions a fifth grader could answer.
She seemed to handle that interview fine. Perhaps she could focus on our domestic agenda and not handle Putin. He would be a lot less dangerous if we weren't encouraging his neighbors to cause trouble.
?

Her interview with Hannity was actually quite good... All in whether you're a Palin Hater or not, I guess....
She's not going to be able to handle any other country her and mccain is going to get us all into a world war.
Putin's easy - she knows all about him.

After all - she can see his country from Alaska.
He coddled her, fed her answers, asked questions with answers in them. This ***** will implode, give it time!
I'll give you a hint: Starts with 'blow' and ends with 'job'.

(I hope that doesn't come across as sexist.)
cowering in fear
She won't.

That's what you want to hear :P
she'll run to her GOP cone of silence
exactly. What does it tell you about McCain, who picked her? Do you think he put this country first?
Palin has the balls of men to face Putin.

  • Ponds face cream and powder foundation?

Okay I bought CoverGirl Fresh Look Pressed Powder cosmetic and every time I put it on my face it seems like it fades off later on in the day. I was thinking about getting some ponds face cream and then put the press powder on after. Will it work? I'm just scared to get liquid foundation because I seen a lot of people wear it and there face has a lot of bad acne.Ponds face cream and powder foundation?
yes it will work :) it's what i doPonds face cream and powder foundation?
the moisturizer will actually soak up all the powder, and it wont last as long. moisturizing is always something you want to do before makeup though, so id put that on about 15 minutes before putting on makeup. your best bet to help it last longer is to get a primer to put on AFTER moisturizer and BEFORE powder

    http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j鈥?/a>

that one is great, just dont use a ton, and dont be scared by the color because it goes on clear.

and dont be scared to use foundation, not everyone breaks out from them, i have horrible sensitive skin and the only one to break me out was lancome. a GREAT foundation thats very light and sheer is by maybelline,

    http://www.walgreens.com/store/pickcolor鈥?/a>

so maybe give that a try as well.

    :D
you can get a liquid foundation just read the back of the bottle and look for the words non comediogenic... this means the product is safe and wont give you acne.

a better option would be to invest in a mineral foundation. make sure that is does not contain bismuth.

both of these will last much longer than pressed powder.

ponds face cream is heavy and will give you acne faster than one of these other options.
it actually depends on your skin type.if your skin is dry,the best thing to use is a liquid foundation..but if you got oily skin, use the powder..if you use powder, there's usually a base,so i think cream would work..but leave the cream for 15minute first before applying the powder..
Won't help. You either need to reapply or just find yourself a decent non-comodegenic liquid foundation.

I have an oily, greasy face, what is the best loose powder to use?

Making skin tonic at home is simple and easy. All you require is rosewater and witch-hazel. Rosewater is one of the best-known skin tonics and is easily available. Witch-hazel is available at a chemist or homeopathy shop. Toners vary according to skin types:

Mix equal quantities of rosewater and witch-hazel and store in a jar.OR

Blend equal quantities of strawberries, pear, grapes, apples and orange in a blender. Apply a thin film of honey on face and apply this deliciously good fruit mask. Let it stand for 30 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

鈥?Powder orange peels and blend in curds. Apply on scarred or pigmented areas and wash off after 15 minutes with cold waterI have an oily, greasy face, what is the best loose powder to use?
Get the Bare Minerals mineral veil...it works wonders!!! then you can wear whatever powder over it. It just soaks up the oil...it has worked miracles for me and my oily skin!I have an oily, greasy face, what is the best loose powder to use?
If you have oily skin, and looking for a great makeup, that is loose powder as well, please try the ';BareMinerals'; or BareEssentials'; line of makeup. You are the perfect canadiate for this makeup. It is sold online at QVC.com and in some stores. You can also order it from www.sephora.com. A huge cosmetics online store. my favorite. I have dry skin, and Ive tried it. It does pretty well for me, but my daughter has oily skin, and when she uses it,...her face is flawless. Its a silky loose powder makeup. You can also fine cheaper versions of Mineral Makeup in your local Walmart, Walgreens, etc. The site I gave you,...www.sephora.com. has a section of what products of makeup and powder for your type of skin. Go there and check it out. Good Luck! :)
    kanebo is great
all i can say is that was a gross comment!!!!!!!!!!
I also have an oily face and recently began using Lancome's Pure Focus line and i love it. It has a matifying lotion you can apply before your make-up that helps control oil. Also they have a t-zone gel you can also apply before that really helps control the oil. As for powder I use MAC studio fix its a powder foundation but it has good coverage and last a long time plus its in a compact so you can always carry it for any touch-ups that may be needed. I really recommend you using the pure focus line it is expensive but it really does work.
A mineral powder like physcians formula mineral wear, it will help not to clog your pores its like those other mineralmakeups but last long and 1/3 of the price. I really like it and I have oliy skin. It will not clog pores being mineral- and talc free as well helps!
I use dream matte mousse by Maybelline. Not a powder but helps with the greasies!!
Try Arbonne's About Face Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 15.

For realistic coverage, with minimal effort, reach for this pure powder foundation. This advanced formula includes minerals and pigments that are blended into a light-reflecting powder that provides sun protection, a natural look and a flawless finish 鈥?all in one. Offered in 15 shades, to ensure a perfect match.

Has anyone tried the new mineral powder items from Mary Kay? And if you have did it make your face burn?

not the mary kay kind, but i love bare minerals!Has anyone tried the new mineral powder items from Mary Kay? And if you have did it make your face burn?
You mean an irritated burn....or it lets you get sunburn?

But I love it, it gives me AWESOME coverage. I have a lot of redness in my face, and it covers it. I get compliments on my skin for the first time ever!Has anyone tried the new mineral powder items from Mary Kay? And if you have did it make your face burn?
No. All of Mary Kay skincare is excellent for sensitive skin. It feels great. I would imagine that of all the products the mineral foundation would be the l;ast thing that would cause iritation.

My director has been selling it for over 5 years and only 4 people said they had a problem. One of them was her husband and he probably just didn't want to use the hand cream. She's pretty sure one other was just having buyer's regret and felt like she had to lie to make a return. It was a silly thing to do because Mary Kay has a 100% unconditional guarantee backed by the company. If you have any problems making a return, call 1-800-MARY-KAY

Is it okay to put powder on face if you have open pores?

Yes, just make sure to use a powder that is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog the pores. Try Neutrogena's powders, some of them contain ingredients to fight acne plus you don't have to break the bank!!

I hope this helps. : )Is it okay to put powder on face if you have open pores?
Only if the powder says its non-comedogenic which means it won't block pores. Is it okay to put powder on face if you have open pores?
    no.
sure, that is if you want more pimples

Thanks!!! :)I Put baby powder on my face to give me nice glow and light color but it only stays for like 10 minutes!??
try putting on lotion or a liquid cover up before so it will stay better.I Put baby powder on my face to give me nice glow and light color but it only stays for like 10 minutes!??
Try MAKE up! There are some to make the face glow better and more naturally
Why would you want put baby powder on your face...? Just use normal face powder.
You should bring it to school with you, and reaply it throughout the day! Or just buy regular light foundation..(not the cheap stuff)
That would be really difficult to do. I have tried this before. Its because the oils in your skin soak it up. Just use ';bare minerals'; makeup, it has much of the same effect. Promise.
keep putting it on thoughout the day!
try using a lotion before you put it on. that way it goes into your skin a little bit, and use a reeeaaallly light powder instead of baby powder. like an albino loose face powder.

It MIGHT help if you have bags under your eyes. The caffeine will help to take them away however there are other more useful things to use that will help with complexion etc. Try a clay mask, it's a little messy but your skin will be really soft after. Also there are cucumber masks- those are pull off not rinse off but will help with blackheads %26amp; blemishes. Egg whites are also a good complexion refresher!

I've just never heard of putting coffee on your face... I suppose it couldn't hurt.

just a thin layer of powder so that the face wont look so oily.Is it normal for a guy to use powder in the face?
If he likes touching other guys, yes!Is it normal for a guy to use powder in the face?
as long as youre not using other makeup i guess its fine. i mean tv anchors wear it all the time. so why not. i would just make sure the powder you use blends well with your skin tone and does not have glitter in it.
yeah its normal! It doesn't matter whether your gay or not! Although my friend is gay and shops at the Dior counter but he doesn't care
i never seen any guys do it
I'm not to sure if I'm comfortable with guys' wearing face powder unless they lost a bet, but anyway i did have an ex that would use the cosmetic sponges to remove oil which you can by separately without the purchase of face powder.
If you're not on TV, you look like a gay.

Try oil controlling lotions (Clinique) or gel (The Body Shop) instead.
If you see a man wearing make-up or powder it means that he is GAY.
sure, i know a lot of guys that do it...straight, bi %26amp; gay!!! no problems!!! if it makes u look better, why not???

    Powder makes face more oily?

I dont know if its just me but it seems that whenever i put any type of powder on my face, even oil free and talc-free, my face seems to be more oily than when i don't. Any thoughts?Powder makes face more oily?
The oil on your face is absorbing in the powder that stays on your face, therefore it appears more oily.Powder makes face more oily?
    naww.

    this is how it works:

osmotic pressure. fluid flows from a point of high concentration to a point of low concentration.

    face=full of fluid (oil)

    powder=no fluid, tons of space

face+powder+oil=oily powder=natural/matte look, makes oil faces more comfortable.

but if your powder is too heavy, then your face trys to fill the powder by creating more oil. like when you wash your face and it's really dry, then it gets oily? same diff. try putting on a moisturizing lotion (aveeno spf 15 face lotion is really good) before, so it has something to stick to.

also, try mineral powder. they sell jane powder for about $5 now at places like wallgreens, cvs and rite aide, and its pretty descent.

    http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a鈥?/a>
Is it just pressed powders you use? If so try a loose powder meant for oily skin. You can also try blotting your skin with either blotting sheets or a paper towel before putting on powder.
The reason could be that the powder is drying your face out, if you are not using any moisturizer than applying powder will cause your skin to produce more oil because it does not feel moisturized.

Can talc or baby powder also be used to remove shine on the face?

I would suggest blotting sheets (Boscia works well for me, can get at Bath and Body Works or Sephora) or MAC's blotting powder. Or you could use a mattifying foundation like Chanel Mat Lumiere, Makeup Forever Mat Velvet or Lancome Teint Idole. Can talc or baby powder also be used to remove shine on the face?
there used to be a product for this,

blotting papers, they looked like the papers for roll your on smokes, I can't remember the name of them, I presume they are still available. Don't know where though.

Don't use talc powder, it will only clog the pores on your face and cause poblems. Can talc or baby powder also be used to remove shine on the face?
I don't think you should mix your face and feet, if you are trying to remove shine use a daily oil control;like proactiv's-it really works.:)
Clean and Clear as well as a few other skin-care companies/brands make oil removing sheets. They work WONDERS! You simply blot your face with the sheet, and ALL of the shine is removed! They even work for me, which is very surprising, since my skin is so oily. I've been using them for about a year now, and am still happy.

I wouldn't recommend either talc or baby powder, because neither are good for your face. Baby powder, I think, would be the best out of the two... but if you want to make sure that you remove the shine and don't risk breaking out, I would definately go with the oil blotting sheets. :)
I have used this before, and it made my skin a horrendous mess for months even after discontinuing use of it. Do not use it on your face... Spend the extra money and get translucent, talc-free powder. Talc is a carcinogen (it causes cancer) and an irritant on the face.

Daily i have using Ponds Cold face cream and Powder,,,,, so can i use this face cream daily or not?

Nothing on the package suggests you cannot use it daily.its not a cream for going outside with--no sunscreen. Its a good make-up remover, especially waterproof mascara.

oh and i have used ponds cold cream for about 20 years! as long as it doesn't cause you to break out...your fine.Daily i have using Ponds Cold face cream and Powder,,,,, so can i use this face cream daily or not?

Yes. I love Physicians Formula, everything of theres that I have tried works really well. It is also great for people with sesitive skin.

Difference between 'powder' and 'face' brush?

Powder brush is for applying, loose translucent powder. Best powder brushes are large and fluffy.

Face brush? Maybe it is a flat, foundation brush?

Best highlighter, shimmer creme/powder for face? 10pts?

I used to use mary kate and ashleys sequin dust on my fast but they discontinued the finely milled type. Benefit high beam doesnt seem white/shimmery enough for me. What is the whitest glittery face illuminating powder/cream you can think of and that you like? thanks!Best highlighter, shimmer creme/powder for face? 10pts?
well i use MAC's cream color base in Luna and Prescriptives Sheen Cream in Twinkle. And those are shimmery enough for me.Oh,,,, try Benefit's Miss Popularity!! it lBest highlighter, shimmer creme/powder for face? 10pts?
I like Wet 'n' Wild's loose glitter. The grain is quite brilliant, but it has a texture that you either like or hate. When applying, make sure to contain the glitter in the area you want; otherwise you could be in trouble. The white one is rather cool. There are several different varieties.
Without going over the top white I think Girlactik's Star Powder in Lace would be a good choice. It's an incredibly finely milled shimmering powder. You can choose from 3 different colours but I think Lace would be closest to what you are looking for.

I burned the cheek area of my face(2nd degree) & would like to know when it is safe to use mineral powder?

this happened a week ago and I treated it at first with silvadine ointment, now just basetracin and would appreciate an answer from a medical person.I burned the cheek area of my face(2nd degree) %26amp; would like to know when it is safe to use mineral powder?
yes,try a LITTELof itI burned the cheek area of my face(2nd degree) %26amp; would like to know when it is safe to use mineral powder?
    NO
no but i know if you can get ahold of a aloe vera plant and put that on your face it will help it heal super fast i had bad grease burns and i put aloe vera plant on my body and by the time i got to the hospital i didnot have a red place on my body it really works trust me
I am not a medical person, but I know that applying makeup or other cosmetics to a burn is not a good idea. Don't apply anything that will not allow your skin to breathe or anything that could draw an infection. Burns need to be kept clean. Follow your doctors advise to the letter when it comes to burns.

Being a redhead and in the sun long before sunblock was introduced and a few burns from cooking, I have some experience in this department.

  • Does bare minerals look the same on face than regular powder makeup???

if not then what does it look like..can you tell your wearing makeup??Does bare minerals look the same on face than regular powder makeup???
I got a bare minerals starter kit last year, and for a while I was happy with it because I had this mindset that it was perfect makeup, but eventually I realized that it looked pretty awful. Bare minerals isn't that bad as long as you already have pretty much perfect skin. It is awful (in my opinion) at covering acne, and things like that. If you have clear skin it might be alright for you, but I don't really recommend it. (I've never been a big fan of only using powder anyway, so it may just be me) As I said in the comment I left in one of your other questions, I recommend loreal's truematch liquid foundation, it blends easily and has nice coverage. But always go with what you're comfortable with, and it's always good to try new things. Life is all about trial and error, keep trying until you find something perfect that you love and that looks great. Also http://www.youtube.com/user/amy04 has really great makeup videos if you wanna watch some of those, it never hurts to learn.

Sorry this is so long %26gt;.%26gt; I tend to get carried away

Oh and Avon carries a great mineral powder foundation, and I'm pretty sure it's alot cheaper than bare mineralsDoes bare minerals look the same on face than regular powder makeup???
no...it's really shiny and cakey looking!!!

    I hate it.

Get LA Minerals hollywood or NoHoGlo foundation instead. It's much better and cheaper. Plus no bismuth in it.
bare minerals is great. never cakes and holds shine at bay. its great stuff. no not the same as other powders. apply right and its great
No it dosen't becuase it's not he same as regular powder. Most powders are not foundations, they are just powders, made mostly of cornstarch and talcs to absorb oil. Bare escentuals is ok, however it is overhyped. I am a professional makeup artist, the point of makeup is to make you look as good as possible and make it look like it comes to you naturally. I use faerie organic minerals on all my clientel for several reasons. Everyone wants that celebrity *glow and this makeup does it naturally. Bare escentuals uses some cheap fillers and chemical preservatives they use bismuth oxychloride which is cheap and can cause irritation or the dreaded itchy feeling, faerie organic uses Boron nitride a high end mineral that costs A LOT, but makes you look flawless. They have natural spf, its pretty much waterproof, cheaper than bare escentuals, looks completley natural. You can get a sample kit for like $5.99. http://www.faerieorganic.com They have real before and afters unlike bigger sites where they have computer edited models. Check it out.

I would suggest getting the oiliness under control first wit a good skincare regimen. It is key in beginning to control the oil in your skin.

I have had great luck with kms mineral essentials. It has controlled oil better for me than the other brands I have tried. I don't impress easily, but this stuff is amazing. My makeup stays on until I take it off late in the evening.

Since you have oily skin, I would recommend forgetting about wearing ANY type of liquid foundation. Liquid will just make your face even more oily, and I find that most people don't look as natural when they wear liquid as they do when they wear a powder foundation. The type of powder foundation that I use is call MAC studio fix http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/pr鈥?/a> . It gives great coverage, and will take away any shine on your face that is cause by your oily skin. I have also found that it cleared my skin up as opposed to what most foundations do which is make you break out. It also lasts all day, I rarely have to do touch ups. Hope this helps!
well dont use any compacted foundation, oil is used to keep it compact, always use a loose powder and NEVER a liguid cover up. I love bare minerals, try Larenim bare minerals, amazing stuff and it will even clean out your pores without xpanding them
I joke with all my friends that on a hot day you could slap a slice of potato on my cheek and have a chip in no time!

I have ALWAYS been an oil slick. About two years ago, I went to the Clinique counter and began their 3-step skin care system. I went there b/c as a teen my Dr recommended their face soap to me (I had bad acne).

Oh, I'm now in my 30's BTW.

It doesn't matter what type foundation/powder you use - if you don't balance your skin, it will always dissolve within a couple of hours.

I use the Clinique bar soap for oily skin, follow with the #4 clarifying liquid and then Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel - 2 times per day. I also use their Super Fit foundation and set it with loose powder.

Seriously - it has done amazing things for my skin.

Is it true that powdered milk mix and warm water makes a good face wash?

Actually it is great! Milk, specially goats milk, is a natural antioxidant. Mix a little orange zest (oil or finely shredded peel), powedered milk, and rosemary. It's a natural acne treatment. Is it true that powdered milk mix and warm water makes a good face wash?
I've never heard that one, but I used to mix liquid soap, lotion, and corn meal and make my own facial scrub. It really made my face smooth and soft.

Making makeup stay on my face, without powder.?

    HI!

Whenever i go out i wear makeup, i have good skin skin so i don't need to cake myself but when i put the powder on so that the makeup stays in place, it makes my skin look like im wearing a lot of makeup.

Is there any better way of making the makeup last?

I usually moisturise before i put it on, but the heat just seems to melt it off!

I'm not changing the makeup, i love it!

thanks!Making makeup stay on my face, without powder.?
One thing is your skin could be too dry.

Or just dont use powder. Urban decay has one thing [[that i forgot the name of]] that you roll on that makes your makeup stay on and prevents creases.Making makeup stay on my face, without powder.?
the powder really is needed since its what ';sets'; the foundation. it even helps to make eye shadow stay put. when you apply the powder you should use a powder brush (a big brush with soft yet stiff bristles) and gently swirl the brush in the power so that there is only a fine coat on the brush (you should still be able to see some bristles through the coat of powder) and that should be enough to cover one side of your face. do the same for the opposite side of your face as well as your forehead. then remove all the powder from the brush by tapping it or by brushing your arm with it. once all the powder is off the brush then brush your entire face to remove any excess.

also, if you wait a few minutes between moisturizing and applying the foundation it will give your skin more time to absorb the moisturizer and and less of a ';greasy'; appearance.

if you still are having problems with your makeup staying in place then lightly coat your face with hair spray! (i know this sounds crazy but it really works!!!) hope this helps!
    Hi!

Have you ever tried spritzing your face with water? Spritzing your face after you have finished applying your foundation can help set your makeup into place and make it look less cakey.

Also, the way you might be applying your powder could make it look more heavy. A soft powder brush works best for applying powder and remember don't use too much powder.

    :)
How do you apply the powder?Try using a big fluffy face brush, it will make it look very nice and natural!

Or you could also try using a face primer to have the makeup stick better

    Good luck :)
Well, when I use the sponge to apply my powder, it looks more caked on. Now I just use a Kabuki powder or even bronzer brush. I think it looks better, and it doesn't look very caked. A Kabuki brush is a good investment. Hope I helped you!
Use a primer like Smashbox Primer Light. It really works!!

If they are an artist, they don't use MAC because it's being boycotted by Makeup artists and all the makeup artist unions.

Artists use things like T. LeClerc, Kett set powder, or RCMA no color powder. All of these are impreceptible on camera unlike the heavier commercial brands.
    3) Chanel
Chanel probably because it has good reviews so of course they`d be interested. Otherwise, it`s some elite brand that no one knows about.
MAC is used by a majority of people

No, there is nothing that will make your hair grow more quickly or cause it be thicker. Just old wive's tales. Both are determined by genetics. Is it true that rubbing baking powder on face open up the pores which helps facial hair to grow faster ?
    I've never heard of this.

What are you trying to do this for? I'm guessing you are trying to get some facial hair so you look older and don't get carded for beer or cigarettes.

    2) use Physician's Formula pressed powder or Physician's Formula beads. They have minerals and such to hide acne and resist future breakouts.

My face tends to get OILY. can anyone suggest a powder or somthing to help?

it makes me feel unconfident sometimes that my face gets so oily. i dont get that many zits-but i am a youg teenager so there is a possibilty. is there any type of powder that can give my face a flawless, nonoily complection?? please recomend the brand.

best answer will be givenMy face tends to get OILY. can anyone suggest a powder or somthing to help?
Oily face...I can totally relate. I recomend 'Physicians Formula' Make-up. I'm obsessed with it and I can't go out in public unless I'm wearing it. You can just simply buy it at Target. It's not expensive or anything and it really works. It hides any sign of oil on your face. It's about 10$ but it lasts a long time and that's really cheap for powder.

Oh here's something you should know if it's your first time wearing powder. Depending on how much you put on, the lighting in the bathroom can make it look like too much. Florescent lights make make-up seem like too much when out in the real light it looks just fine.

I personally glob the powder on. It hides any natural color of the cheeks, but that can sometimes be really pretty. Like a doll face. If you add blush you look even more like a doll.

BTW do not use any liquid make-up. It will make your face more oily.

Also, there's strips that can take away oil from the face. You have this little tiny pocket sized box that holds all these strips. During the day you can wipe your face with them and it will soak up all the oil. It works well....=)My face tends to get OILY. can anyone suggest a powder or somthing to help?

like you i have oily skin I use Coonobabe Pepino cleanser followed by their Manzanillo toner. After washing,, pat dry with a clean towel, then use the toner, applying toner with a cotton pad, and allow to air dry. this is what i've used for the past year to keep my skin oil and pimple free. however in summer I have to repeat this process 2-3 times to keep the oil at bay for obvious reasons.

for powder they have their happy endings powder which I also use. so I hope this helps....;)

    http://www.coonobabe.com

btw: if you need further assistance just email the experts at Coonobabe. They have experts waiting to answer your questions.
instead of powder, i use clean and clear oil blotting sheets. they work REALLY well. and they get rid of oil they don't just cover it like powder will. plus it won't feel as heavy.
try using an oil control moisturizer.

try MAC's oil control lotion, it works really well at keeping oil to a minimum,

as far as powder goes i love MAC's blot powder.

try it at sephora, macys, norstroms, dept. stores to find ur shade by swiping it on ur jawbone

hope i helped :]What is the best powder or foundation that will not irritate the face?
First of all do you have oily/combination skin or normal dry skin. That will determine what kind of powder or foundation you should use.

I recommend Mary Kay Mineral Powder foundation and the Medium Coverage Liquid foundation. It is good for you skin and will not cause you any problems. Do you have a cleanser for your sensitive skin, they have that stuff too. What is the best powder or foundation that will not irritate the face?
if you have sensitive skin like i do i would actually pass on the bare minerals. i used to use it all the time, for 3 years actually and in the last few months it started to irritate my face, making it sting and feel itchy. the ingredient that causes the irritation of the itch, and can actually do more damage in the long run is called bismuth oxychloride, so if you have sensitive skin i would avoid bare minerals.

i switched to mac studio fix powder and i LOVE it. you can control the coverage like bare minerals, and you feel like you have nothing on. you can go from a sheer coverage, and build it up to more of a matte coverage depending on your liking. it's $25 but it is so totally worth it in my opinion. i bought the #134 brush (pricey yes, but their brushes are a very good investment) and i apply it with that brush. it works wonders for my skin, and has actually caused no break outs whatsoever.

if you are interested, i would go to your local mac freestanding store or a counter in department stores like macys or nordstroms and have them try it out on you. they can choose your shade for you as well.

but yeah go check it out: http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/pr鈥?/a>

    it's a really fantastic product!
i would say that physitians formula is the best

its all natural...and i use it..

i have very sinsetive skin, and it doesnt irritate my face.

i love all of their products.

    hope i helped!
Bare Minerals is like the single worst product you can out on your face because of the bismuth content which is arsenic lead it makes for really bad breakouts. I recommend a great line I have started using that has been the only brand that has done what it says it would do. Bee Luscious Cosmetics.

Google them its really incredible products.
I recommend Arbonne's Mineral Foundation. It is natural and actually good for your skin. It is also easy to apply and will not clog pores/irritate skin.
    bare minerals =]
Bare Minerals works for me. But I'm sure anything Neutrogena won't be too bad for your skin either.
Anything that is 100% pure and natural and allergy free should work. :) I have sensitive skin and wear kms mineral essentials. It is one of the very few that I can wear.

  • Using baking powder/soda as a face mask?

I know that you can use baking soda and water as a face mask, but can you use baking powder and water? What difference is there?Using baking powder/soda as a face mask?
Baking powder will not cleanse your skin and pores! It may even irritate it if you have delicate or fair skin. Try almonds and yogurt together or aloe leaf with regular yogurt. That really exfoliates your skin more than either one of those two options. Hope that helps!

amanda (:Using baking powder/soda as a face mask?
dont get it in your eyes. and dont accidentally use vinegar. XD
baking powder and soda are 2 different things. getting them mixed up can ruin what you are doing
Baking powder and baking soda are two different things. Baking powder won't work as well to clean your skin.

Edit: Also, baking powder might dry your skin out, since it's not pure sodium bicarbonate. It has other stuff in there.
don't know but i do know its unbelievable for whitening teeth:D
    I need points hi:)

My face so dry. Should i use powder or liquid foundation?

My face so dry. Should i use powder or liquid foundation? My face is Dry and it like having dry skin you can see the crack it so dry it hurt. Is it true you should always apply lotion then liquid or powder foundation? Wat to use? Liquid or powder? My face so dry. Should i use powder or liquid foundation?
i would use a moisturizer first and then put on powder foundation. i also have dry skin, but i don't like to put on liquid foundation, because it seems that i have a mask on with the lotion + the foundationMy face so dry. Should i use powder or liquid foundation?
apply a moisturizer before applying any kind of foundation

then apply i cream/ mousse foundation
use moisteriser!!!! you need to.. any brand it is necessary to start.. use it two times a day.. if your skin is so dry it hurts apply lots of moisteriser on top of skin and let it soak in.. then for make up if your skin is peeling and dry only use a foundation.. powder is only used for oily skin really.. or for a matte look.. but yeah stick to moisteriser and foundation..
Use a moisturizing cream for Dry skin. Then apply liquid or cream foundation. You don't need powder. If you have to have it...use one that is talc free so it doesn't settle into the dry lines. Talc free....Estee Lauder lucidity loose, Christian Dior, Aloette or Shisido.
If you change to a good moisturizer you woulnd't need to worry about powder or foundation. Think of your face as a canvas. The paint on it is only as good as the canva's condition. Find a really rich moisturizer and after a few days your skin will be better.
invest in a good moisturizer, i like my new liquid foundation, it feels flawless its hte new maybelline mineral power liquid foundation. be sure you use a light powder to set everything
Liquid would be best. Just make sure to always use a moisturizer.
OMG what you need that will rock your world is bee luscious Cosmetics hydrating cream and then their liquid minerals foundation you will NEVER have dry again its that totally amazing.
a good thing to use instead of foundation is a good tinted moisturiser. This way you are using a moisturiser mixed in with your foundation. hope his helps :)
MOISTURIZE! everyday....100 times a day! I'm a makeup artist...I've completely given up on both powder and liquid. i work with airbrush makeup on my clients! Unfortunately, not everyone can use airbrush on a daily basis, its expensive, and you need a professional! For you, i recommend liquid, with moisturiser! Airbrush is HIGHLY recommended for any special occasion...try it!

(also try mixing moisturiser with your foundation before applying it!)
Use liquid foundation that has moisturizers in it like Estee Lauder. No power, please! Try using a night creme that should help too.
    First moisturize. THen def. LIQUID!
Use liquid. Put on a really good moisturiser, let in sink in for ten minutes, and then apply liquid foundation. You can dust a little powder over.

If you ever want, you can buy ';hyrdating mists'; to spritz on during the day, or if you find that your having to use powder. Trilogy do a really good one, so does MAC. Look up there websites and check the products out.
use moisturiser first then use liquid foundation
Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is really good!
use a moisturizer then a powder foundation.
Use moisturiser first and then definitely liquid foundation if your skin is that dry
You should get a good skin regiment down before you worry about make up. When your skin is dry it can produce extra oil to correct the dryness, but then it will cause you to break out. Make up can make that worse!

Exfoliate well, and use moisturizer day AND night! Try getting a system, like the Arbon Intelligence skin care system...it's what I use. It comes with Face was, mask/exfoliator, toner, moisturizer and eye cream.

If you can, try going to a good spa and ask the facialist for suggestions.

Exfoliate, MOISTURIZE and if you must apply make up...the kind you use depends on what you need.

To cover up a bad spot, use liquid and then pat with powder to set.

If it's just to even out skin tone, use a powder.

Stay clear of makeups that contain TALCUM or TALC, it's a cheap filler and will dry your skin out more and cause break outs. Look for the ';mineral make up'; type lines.

If you use liquid make up, avoid mineral oils if you can...they're bad fillers which will cause extra oil and break outs.

But seriously, facialist or dermatologist, exfoliate and moisturize. ALWAYS moisturize.

Your skin isn't supposed to crack and be so dry you can see it, even if you're on an acne regimen. It's not healthy, you can actually get bacteria in the cracks and get infections or get sick...and worst of all, you'll get break outs!!!
If your face is dry, don't use a powder directly on your skin. That will only make your face drier.

Use a tinted moisturizer or moisturizing foundation.

Another option is to wash your face completely, apply a small amount of face lotion, and then brush powder on top.
Use lotion before you even apply the foundation, if you moisturize your face first, it won't matter if you use powder you liquid; your face won't be dry either way.

    :) hope i helped.
I would apply moisturizer on skin before foundation or mix both of them together so your skin isn't so dry. if your skin's dry and you just put foundation over it, it will look unpleasant. try applying only light powder instead of foundation

How do i keep my foundation, concealer, and loose powder to stay on my face ALL day?

i need help on this, i put on my concealer, foundation, and loose powder, in the morning then i go on the buss and go to school, then i go to athletics\P.E. in the morning as first period, and i sweat, cuz i run alot, and im afraid my makeup comes off, and i need coverage, how do i make it last thru p.e. and sweat. thanks :)How do i keep my foundation, concealer, and loose powder to stay on my face ALL day?
Step 1) Apply two pumps of moisturizer to your face, including your neck area.

Step 2) Set your hair dryer to the cool setting. Lightly blow-dry your face to help your moisturizer absorb and set into your skin. You will only need to do this for a couple of seconds.

Step 3) Apply the rest of your makeup the way that you usually do. Skip your regular mascara for now. You do not need to change the type or how you apply your makeup to make it sweat proof.

Step 4) Sprinkle some loose face powder onto a tissue. Pick up some of the powder with the large powder brush. Lightly brush this powder over your face to set your makeup.

Step 5) Use waterproof mascara to finish your look. This type of mascara will stay put as the sweat starts to run into your eyes. How do i keep my foundation, concealer, and loose powder to stay on my face ALL day?
revlon colorstay. the best foundation. the liduid foundation is about $13 and the compressed powder is $9. it never looks cakey, infact it look completley natural and flawless. i love it. it lasts ALL day, and it doesnt rub off onto clothing. ugh i could seriously go on and on about it. just go to google and type in revlon colorstay review and youll get tons of reviews on how great it is. i HIGHLY reccomend it.
I suggest a good facial primer (Monistat Anti Chaffing Gel works well Ive heard)

Moisturize your face before applying makeup

Get a setting powder (I use MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder)
same here, i have pe first it sux. i go thru the same thing. the thing tht i do is i just re do it in the locker room, but i use covergirl makeup it really works.
